1st grade

I can't believe it's your first day of 1st grade, bug.  You're getting so big!  I have to admit it was hard for me to leave you this morning... not because you're not in good hands, and not because I don't think you're ready... because you are... I will just miss you, that's all.  Love you always!

ice cream is always a good idea

You sat on a downtown sidewalk,
ice cream dripping down your chins,
sticky fingers, m&m's, gummy bears
and chocolate grins.

I still remember your laughter on that hot, steamy day.
Sticky, sweet, dirty faces, scraped up elbows, and grinning faces.
Summer days.
